Promise Me This Blog Tour: Playlist + Giveaway

Promise Me This (Promise Me #1)
Welcome to the South - where the tea is sweet and the accents are sweeter. This Southern way of life is all Charlie has ever known. It’s not until she loses the only person who pushed her to break free of the Southern Belle mold that she starts living the life she needs and not the life her parents forced on her.

Jhett has lived on the edge for as long as he could remember - constantly teetering back and forth between being a rock star and living a normal life. His rebellious and sometimes arrogant attitude is known to get him into trouble, especially with the girls who hang on his every move.

Charlie never thought that a trip to pack up her brother’s apartment would leave her feeling even more unsettled about the grainy details of her brother’s death. Her quest for information leads her straight to his old hangout and into arms of Jhett, who suspiciously knows more about her situation than he ever should.

Only a few questions remain - Can you trust someone based on their word alone? And if you make a promise, how far will you go to keep it?

Author Bio:
Sarah Ashley Jones was raised in San Diego, California, but currently wrangles her husband and four dogs in Clarksville, Tennessee. When she's not writing she works in a pottery studio and comes home covered in paint on a daily basis. She has a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes and chapstick. She is an eternal optimist and can often be found dancing and singing to music at any given time. It's rare to see her not smiling or laughing, but if you do, just bring her a cupcake and it will cheer her up.

Promise Me This is her first novel and is a story that weaseled its way into her heart and wouldn't leave her alone until she typed it up on the computer. She already is hard at work on ideas for her next book and hopes that the characters never stop coming to her. Her huge imagination was always in overdrive as a child and now she is beyond excited to put it to good use as an adult. She plans to write as long as she has stories that need to be told.

EEP! How did you know music is one of my most favorite things? When I saw a playlist post come through my email, I got all giddy, and then kind of sad, because the actual Promise Me This playlist has over fifty songs on it, and I won’t get to explain all of them so you. If you want to see the whole list, it’s listed in the very back of the book, but for now, I’ll pick a few songs that are very special to me and have stuck out throughout this whole book in my head. Check out the full playlist on Spotify here: Promise Me This
Just Keep Breathing by We The Kings: This song was one I heard after I already began writing, but the instant I heard it, I knew which scene it belong to. It’s the perfect song for the very first chapter, where Charlie is walking about Cameron’s apartment all alone. The lyrics are kind of eerily similar to what I would imagine Cameron saying to her if he could see her one last time, and the music has this kind of inner turmoil feel to it, similar to how Charlie’s felt most of her life.

Bad Things by Jace Everett: YUMM. Okay this song is totally Jhett in a nutshell when we first meet him. I imagine that a lot of the lyrics go along with what her is thinking about when he first see’s Charlie, but the sound of it is also the type of music that he is playing that first night. “I don’t know what you’ve done to me but I know this much is true, I want to do real bad things with you.” Yeah, that’s Jhett all right.

Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation: This song was THE song for their first sexual encounter. I listened to this song on repeat for over twelve hours working on that scene. In fact, it was one I wasn’t expecting to write until much later, but when she grabs his hand, it was all over. The tone to this song is…I don’t know….dark but super sensual? Like everything should be in slow motion and their bodies on lit by a candle’s glow. Yeah, sign me up for that one!

Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm: So there’s a scene in Promise Me This where Jhett gets a little heated towards a friend, and there’s a fight. It’s kind of the first time we get to see Jhett’s anger meter go through the roof (a RARE occurrence) but I knew when this scene came which song would be playing for him – this one. It’s just so upbeat, angry, and all over the place, which is nothing like the original. AH. Such a good fight song!

Colorblind by Counting Crows: This song could be played for most of the last parts of the book. There’s especially one part where Jhett drops a big emotional bomb onto Charlie, and she has a bit of an epic freak out moment, resulting in a Jhett epic freak out moment and being dragged out of the room, fighting it every step of the way. It’s very emotional, and in my head I see the scene played out in slow motion (again) with this song playing, while Charlie’s screaming and crying and people are attending to her, and Jhett is fighting to be pulled away from her. Whew, I got a little teary eyed thinking of that scene again.
