Oh, Lexi. Once again, you have created a masterful college town filled with people readers cannot help falling in love with. Whether they be the main characters or the supporting characters, we find that everybody has two sides, that no one person is wholly good or bad.
The feel to this book is very similar to Lexi's Here and Now series. She has again decided to play with memories and accidents. She also writes the story flipping back and forth between "Before" and "After" the accident. And I must say, Lexi is an excellent craftsman. She doesn't reveal all of her cards until the absolute last minute, keeping readers on the edge of their seat. Even if one were to guess what really happened, the anticipation is still there in awaiting to see how this outcome will change characters' relations. I have fallen in love with this new series and cannot wait to see more of these boys.
Lexi does an amazing job of not only developing Mia and Arrow, as well as their friends and family. Mia has always been the responsible one, but has lost her spark for life since the accident. Arrow is determined to destroy his life to punish himself. Chris is the practical friend who sees everything. Keegan is that annoying friend that is constantly making dirty jokes and has no manners, but you still love him anyways (come on, you know that one friend I'm talking about. We all have one). Bailey is the carefree friend that does what she wants not caring about the opinions of others.
I cannot wait to see these characters again and delve more into their personalities. I'm especially interested to know Sebastian's relationship to Coach because there seems to be something more than a athlete/coach relationship there, but perhaps not. I also think it would be super interesting to see more of Uriah, especially from the time his wife was dying. There seem to be so many factors at play with that man and I want to see inside his head.
So basically, Lexi is the queen of New Adult fiction, and everybody needs to read her books. Do it. Now. I don't care which book it is because they're all amazing. But I definitely recommend this book be near the top!
